Social media talk at CCL Chamber luncheon

I was the guest speaker at the Cedar Creek Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Luncheon Thursday, Jan. 12. This is a recording of my talk and the Q&A that followed.
Corrections: I pulled out some numbers off the top of my head during the question and answer portion of the speech and, like most of the time, my memory was a little faulty.

  • In the talk I say that 70 percent of those on Facebook use it daily. According to stats I found from December 2016, that number is actually 66 percent.
  • In the talk I say that Facebook brought in $4.3 billion last quarter. That figure is actually $5.8 billion, according to CNBC.

Working in the newsroom, I had a front row seat as the internet just about killed newspapers. I knew I had to either evolve or risk becoming insignificant. So I changed. I learned how to build websites and blogs, and I used social media to go to my readers. Now the goal is to use what I've learned to honor God and serve my community.
