The NFL released schedules Tuesday night. Here are my thoughts on the Eagles schedule.
1. The Eagles are on the road three of the first four weeks, and the Pope is one of the reasons why. According to Judy Battista at NFL.com, the Archbishop of Philadelphia asked for the Eagles to be on the road in Week 3 because the Pope will be celebrating mass at the Art Museum. Thankfully, two of the early road trips are to the Jets and Redskins, so it isn’t like the Eagles will be logging a lot of miles.
2. The only home game in the first quarter of the year is the Cowboys in Week 2 – the DeMarco Murray reunion. I only point it out because it’s Dallas.
3. The Eagles will play in five prime time games, plus will get the Lions on Thanksgiving. Looks like television and the NFL still love the Birds.
